A useful first step with an air purifier is deciding where it will live and which controls you will use. The Dyson HushJet Purifier Compact HJ10 in White/Silver combines a compact body, a small LCD screen and MyDyson app controls.
Measure the space before setting up
The HJ10 is 47 cm tall and 23 cm across, according to Dyson's model specifications. Check those dimensions against your intended spot rather than judging size from the photograph.
Dyson says it can sit near furniture or in a room corner, close to a socket. Choose a position where you can reach the controls and route the cable without crossing a walkway. Follow the supplied setup and safety instructions, including any clearance requirements.
Choose one control to learn first
Auto mode adjusts settings in response to the room's detected air quality. You can also select airflow speed manually or use Sleep mode for the machine's quieter settings. Start with one mode, then learn what the display shows before adding schedules.
The MyDyson app provides control and filter alerts after setup. Keep the exact HJ10 guide handy when connecting the machine, rather than following instructions for a different Dyson purifier.
Keep its job clear
This is a dedicated air purifier. It does not heat, cool, humidify or dehumidify the room. Choose it for that role rather than expecting it to manage temperature or moisture.
Make care easy to remember
Check the LCD screen or app for filter-replacement alerts. Before cleaning, switch off and unplug the machine. Dyson recommends a damp, lint-free cloth for dust and checking the rear sensor inlets for debris.
Read Dyson's HushJet owner guidance alongside the instructions supplied with your unit.
