The AC remote tends to stay in one place, even when your day takes you elsewhere. A smart infrared controller can make a familiar air conditioner easier to work into your routine, provided the two are compatible.
The UanTii IR + TH controller combines infrared control with temperature and humidity sensors. You can view its readings and operate supported appliances through Tuya Smart or Smart Life. Here are a few practical ways to start.
Check the room before planning the routine
- Check your AC's remote. This model controls compatible infrared appliances. It does not add RF or Bluetooth control, and a brand appearing in the app does not guarantee every function will work with your particular AC.
- Check your Wi-Fi. The controller requires a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connection. Keep it powered and connected for app-based control.
- Choose an open position. Put the controller in the same room as the AC, with a clear infrared path. A shelf behind a cupboard door is a poor choice. Infrared does not pass through walls, so plan room by room.
These checks follow UanTii's infrared-control guidance. Test power, mode and temperature controls in the app before building a schedule around them.
Three routines worth trying
1. A schedule that matches when you use the room
For a room you use at predictable times, start with one scheduled action. You might set a morning cooling target and a separate evening setting, using the functions available for your paired AC.
For example, 24°C in the morning and 25°C in the evening are possible settings to explore. They are illustrative AC targets, not prescribed room temperatures or a promise of how the room will feel. Choose your own settings and include an off time where it suits your routine.
2. A preset for winding down
A Tuya Tap-to-Run scene saves supported actions under a name you choose. A scene called “Bedtime” could send your preferred AC mode and temperature with one tap. Start with a single appliance so it is easy to see whether each command works.
If you prefer voice control on an iPhone, you can add that saved scene to Siri. The setup is explained below.
3. An action based on the room's temperature
The built-in sensor adds another option: a compatible automation triggered by the temperature measured near the controller. One example is turning on a paired AC when the room reading rises above 28°C. That threshold is an example to adjust to your needs.
Select the controller's room-temperature reading as the condition, and choose an AC action that your app actually offers. Test the rule while you are there. The sensor reports conditions at its location; one controller does not measure or manage every room. UanTii describes this sensor-based linkage for its IR and temperature/humidity controller.
Set up Siri after saving the scene
In Tuya Smart or Smart Life on a supported iPhone, create and test a Tap-to-Run scene first. Use “Add to Siri” to add it to Shortcuts, then choose a phrase such as “Bedtime”. Saying the phrase asks Siri to run the saved scene through the app.
This route uses Siri Shortcuts and does not establish Apple HomeKit compatibility. Tuya's Siri setup instructions and HomeKit guidance explain the distinction.
Start with one useful change
Pair the AC, test its controls, then add the one routine you would use most. Keep the original remote nearby while you check the setup. Once that first routine works reliably in your room, you can decide whether another schedule or scene would genuinely help.
